GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., September 30, 2022 – Rae and David Green, founders of Sanford Behavioral Health, a regional mental health treatment center, were awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award at the Alma College Homecoming last weekend.
The Alma College Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor presented to alumni. It recognizes those who have brought distinction to the college through their professions, set strong examples for others, and served their communities through personal accomplishments that enhance the prestige of the college.
Together in 2015, the couple founded Sanford Behavioral Health, a 164-bed residential and outpatient treatment center in Grand Rapids, serving patients with substance use and eating disorders, as well as mental health issues. David Green serves as chief executive officer of the firm, while Rae Green is president and serves as an addiction counselor.
“The heart of Alma College’s mission is preparing graduates who make the world a better place, and David and Rae Green are living examples of that mission,” said Katie Crombe ’11, director of alumni and family engagement. “They have reached great heights in their careers, but what truly sets them apart is their commitment to their communities and living the mission of Alma College.”
Sanford Behavioral Health is licensed and accredited as a substance use disorder, eating disorder, and co-occurring mental health facility, serving the state of Michigan and beyond. Sanford is led by a growing team of medical, clinical and support personnel providing medication-assisted and science-based treatment to residential, outpatient, and telehealth patients. Services include detox, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient programs; and long-term support for patients and their families.
“The lessons we learned at Alma served us as we pursued law degrees and continued on with our careers, inspired by passionate educational leaders who motivated us to go out and create solutions in our communities” said Rae Green, founder and president. “Sanford Behavioral Health is a combined effort of both our educations and experiences, coupled with our drive to help people here in our home state.”
