Clinical and Medical

Eating Disorder Primary Therapist

Sanford Comprehensive Treatment for Eating Disorders (SCTED)

We are looking for passionate professionals interested in joining our team as we open the first Residential Eating Disorder Program in the state. This is an opportunity to be a part of significant progress in the treatment of eating disorders in the state of Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the Individual, Family, and Group Therapy for an outpatient caseload.
  • Will perform assessments, make diagnosis, and develop and implement treatment plan.
  • Support for carrying out overall clinical program and adherence to rules, local, state and accreditation regulations and standards, including all documentation requirements.
  • Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team for client care.
  • If interested, opportunity to lead groups for our IOP and PHP programs.
  • Participation in community education efforts.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, and/or Clinical Psychology.
  • LCSW, LPC, LMHC, LMFT, LP, PsyD or similar licensure in the state of Michigan or eligible for licensure in the state of Michigan.
  • CEDS certification, or interest in pursuing same.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct patient care experience working in an eating disorder treatment setting.

This residential treatment program will focus on adults over 18 years of age and older.

Sanford residential programs are in a 24-hour setting. Flexible schedules and benefits are available.

Program Nurse

Responsibilities

  • Effectively monitor and identify complications in clients who are in need of medically managed detox services. Able to identify and document current withdrawal status, substance use disorder, mental health disorders and any other medical concerns that may arise through benevolent and empathetic nursing care.
  • Measure and document vital signs and CIWA/COWS and other standardized assessments for clients as ordered by the provider.
  • Implement medical treatment plans and communicate effectiveness and client status to providers. Advocate for clients.
  • Complete new client medical pre-screens to assess for appropriateness of admission, nursing intakes and obtain appropriate orders from the providers as needed.
  • Administer, monitor and account for client’s medication (send in e-scriptions/refills as needed, complete prior authorizations, monitor drug levels as needed, assess effectiveness).
  • Work closely with a collaborative treatment team to provide holistic care to clients.
  • Educate clients and staff on safe medication administration and management.
  • Effectively manage and monitor acute and chronic disease processes of clients in a residential care setting including first aid and BLS.
  • Ability to ambulate stairs and utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) for all documentation.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Nurse (LPN) with current licensure in Michigan
  • CPR, BLS

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health illnesses and associated treatments.
  • Experience in residential, medically managed detox units/programs.
  • Communication skills, self-motivation, organizational skills, critical thinking and good decision-making abilities.

Recovery Technician

Responsibilities

  • Position requires travel in personal vehicle between Grand Rapids and Marne facilities. Shifts and duties will be performed at all locations, as needed. May report to two or more locations within a shift, depending on urgency of needs.
  • Independently manage a community setting of clients.
  • Supervise clients’ participation in varied recreational, cultural, and spiritual activities.
  • Assist with conflict resolution among clients and be prepared to intervene as required. Assist with intakes and provide new client orientation.
  • Facilitate groups with clients and enter individualized notes on the EMR.
  • Provide transportation for clients’ needs, as necessary, including transportation between locations (i.e., Sanford West to Sanford Grand Rapids), 12 step meetings, recreational activities, and other care during residential shift hours.
  • Assist Nurse on the unit with clients’ medical needs.
  • Administer client medications and take vitals as ordered by provider and overseen by the nurse.
  • Document medical notes, vitals, and other pertinent information in the EMR and communicate any abnormalities or medical concerns to the nurse.
  • Communicate with the pharmacy regarding orders, deliveries, and prior authorizations for medications.
  • Administer testing and collecting and preparing laboratory specimens.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, as directed by House Manager.
  • Conduct hourly safety checks on clients during sleeping hours.
  • Maintain safety drills and documentation and prepare critical incident reports as needed.
  • At all times, observe and respect clients’ individual rights and confidentiality.
  • Will be expected to perform RSS duties and assist nursing units in Grand Rapids and Marne locations based on call in’s, scheduled vacations, emergencies, etc.
  • Perform CPR/AED and/or First Aid as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required.
  • Unrestricted Driver’s License.
  • Basic understanding of clinical tasks (vitals, EMR charting, etc.).
  • Preferred, minimum 2 years of behavioral health and/or substance use disorder experience.
  • Communication skills, self-motivation, organizational skills, critical thinking, and good decision-making abilities.
  • Must be able to work off shifts, when needed.
  • Current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid. If certification is not current, must be willing to obtain certification within 30-60 days of employment.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) for all documentation.
  • Knowledge of addiction recovery.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medications used in the treatment of substance use disorders.
  • Ability to take accurate vitals.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible in work responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
