Sanford West Behavioral Health Campus (Sanford West)

Sanford West Behavioral Health Campus is our newest treatment facility. Located 12 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, in Marne, Michigan, and situated on 18 acres, Sanford West enhances and complements the existing services at Sanford Behavioral Health. After a year-long renovation, Sanford West is open for business! The hallmarks of Sanford, such as original artwork, custom furniture, and an abundance of light, are apparent in the new facility. And although it is a big, sprawling campus, program areas are strategically divided into more intimate spaces. By doing this, we have the flexibility and can create a sense of community that most large, institutionalized centers do not have the ability to do.

Sanford West is well positioned to treat high acuity patients with an integrated approach to addiction and co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, mental health, and medical conditions. All of our programs are backed by a multi-disciplinary team of medical and clinical professionals. Programs at Sanford West incude:

  • Medical & Psychiatric Assessments
  • Detox Center
  • Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Co-Occurring
  • Outpatient Center SUD & Telehealth
  • Mental Health
  • Supportive Living
  • Eating Disorder Residential
  • Outpatient Eating Disorder & Telehealth
  • Stay tuned as we roll out new programs.

Our mission for Sanford West Behavioral Health Campus is to fill the gaps in mental health treatment in Michigan. We want to effectively treat the root cause of co-occurring mental health conditions and facilitate more thorough healing for individuals in our care.

Our Programs

Detox - Open with Beds Available!

Filled with light, original artwork, and similar to other Sanford Behavioral Health properties in the Greater Grand Rapids area, Sanford Detox Center at Sanford West is a beautiful space in which to heal. Comfort is key, as sub-acute detox is the process of safely ridding the body of alcohol/drugs and managing the resultant withdrawal symptoms. During this process, patients may experience mental and physical symptoms which include body discomfort (sometimes extreme), nausea, or anxiety. Some detox symptoms can even be life threatening.

At this level of detox, patients are unlikely to complete withdrawal without 24-hour nursing care and regular physician visits. They may also be experiencing co-occurring psychiatric or medical conditions which may put them at risk for a complicated withdrawal process. Consequently, led by Chief Medical Officer, Gilbert Al Masterson, M.D., Sanford has qualified healthcare providers who can help manage these co-occurring conditions while allowing an individual to safely detox from drugs and alcohol.
