Over the years of growth, Sanford Behavioral Health has maintained the same standard of care and excellence in every facility it has acquired. Mental health treatment can be more successful if you feel comfortable and safe, not to mention the effects a beautiful environment can have on reducing stress, encouraging self-care, and even aiding in healing..
In 2023, we moved all our programming to Sanford West Behavioral Health Campus. We have added more psychiatric and medical services. We also have our registered dietitians, clinical therapists, recreational therapists, and medical and psychiatric providers on site. Integrating those disciplines in treatment for our substance use disorder (SUD) and eating disorder patients is a huge asset. Individuals can complete the full continuum of care under one roof. We can also treat co-occurring SUD and eating disorders because we do see patients who present with both. We have a group therapy session all about nutrition in recovery, and that’s something that sets us apart; the nutritional expertise wouldn’t be as accessible if we didn’t have this campus.
We are close to numerous parks and walking trails. These natural, out-of-door backdrops have practical applications in our evidence-based practices. Here, in the safety of treatment, you will experience snippets of exposure to the rest of your life in recovery. The proximity of our treatment center to residential neighborhoods goes a long way to dispelling negative stereotypes and stigma associated with addiction and mental health disorders.

Walking through the halls of Sanford West Behavioral Health Campus, it does not feel like you are in a hospital or institution. It is light and buzzy, with team members conferring in conference rooms and recreational therapists leading groups outside for movement therapy or a breath of fresh air. You may see a therapy dog trotting alongside Sanford Behavioral Health (Sanford) founder Rae Green or catch conversations drifting from the clinical kitchen in the eating disorder facility. The family of an individual checking in for addiction treatment might be meeting the admissions specialist who first answered the phone and allayed their fears. And laughter – you often hear the sound of laughter as Sanford patients begin to feel better and make connections with kindred spirits.
The ambiance is noninstitutional, but what occurs at Sanford Behavioral Health Campus is evidence-based with a psychiatrist-led multidisciplinary team. We treat different mental health diagnoses across multiple levels of care in one location. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) tells us that more than 20% of American adults experience some form of mental illness each year. At Sanford, most of our clients experience more than one mental health disorder at the same time. The heart and soul of Sanford Behavioral Health are the highly trained, licensed clinicians and staff members who provide individualized treatment plans for every patient. In addition to evidence-based practices, we offer activities such as yoga, art, and fitness therapy in conjunction with traditional one-on-one and group therapy sessions.
We offer residential treatment, partial hospitalization or day treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, and aftercare planning for when it’s time to leave our facility and continue your recovery. At our addiction treatment center in Marne, Michigan, we aim to provide a continuum of care. That care supplies our patients and families with the support and resources they need to navigate recovery as a whole.

Sanford West Behavioral Health Campus is our newest treatment facility. Located 12 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, in Marne, Michigan, situated on 18 acres, Sanford West treats eating disorders, addiction, and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Sanford (CTED) is a full continuum of care eating disorders treatment facility. In a beautiful, safe environment, we provide residential, day, half-day, family, alums, and outpatient groups. Out recreation therapists offer excursions and experiential therapy.

Sanford Outpatient Center is located at Sanford West Behavioral Health Campus. Here, we offer flexible, innovative, and individualized programs that work with your “real life.” Outpatient treatment extends the continuum of care with day and half-day programs.
