Anxiety & Teen Eating Disorders: WGVU Morning Show
Thanks to Shelley Irwin and the WGVU Morning Show for focusing on the rise in eating disorders in the past year. Shelley interviews Sanford’s Gail Hall about the increase in eating disorders, especially in teens.
Eating disorders are a lot about anxiety. And everyone’s anxiety has been ramped up (for good reason) the past year and a-half. But I think it hit teens and younger kids hard because of all the losses they have endured. Having to school from a distance means they’ve lost traditional schedules. They’ve lost contact with peers and face to face contact with the adults, like teachers, they rely on. And many have turned that anxiety toward toward increasing focus on their body and their weight.
