50 Things I Love About Sobriety (Don’t Even Get Me Started…)

Yes, I love just about everything associated with sobriety (even though, being a grownup can be a little difficult at timesโ€ฆ). Let me count the ways.

I love:

  1. The mornings
  2. My hair, nails and skin
  3. Having a memory
  4. Not being afraid or regretful of what I rememberโ€ฆ
  5. The free time
  6. No bags under my eyes
  7. Sharing at meetings
  8. Living without lying
  9. Newfound good manners
  10. Rekindled relationships
  11. Making appointments

I adore…

  1. Getting there on time
  2. Answering the phone and the doorbell with impunity
  3. Eating and tasting my food
  4. Being ever so humble and gratefulโ€ฆ
  5. Sleeping, not passing out
  6. Getting along with my significant other (if I had oneโ€ฆ)
  7. Not fearing police lights in the rearview mirrorโ€ฆ
  8. Making good choices
  9. Staying awake through the whole movie
  10. Coffee, candy, lotto tickets (sorry)
  11. My job and my paycheck
  12. Hanging with my kids!
  13. Paying bills on time
  14. Being proud of myself (not cocky โ€“ just proud)
  15. Being there for milestones
  16. My family, friends and colleagues!
  17. Taking back the night
  18. Hand/eye coordination and balance

Don’t even get me started on…

    1. Cooking without burning the pan
    2. Working out again!
    3. The money saved
    4. Yoga and Pilates classes
    5. Church, meditation and quiet timeโ€ฆ
    6. Reading comprehension
    7. Accountability
    8. The fact the room/bed does not spin
    9. Not having whiskey breath or wine halitosis
    10. Not consuming empty calories (okay, the occasional chocolate bar)
    11. My self-esteem!!
    12. Going for a long walk
    13. Getting to the root of my issues
    14. Having mechanisms in place to deal with stressors and triggers
    15. Feeling copasetic (finally)
    16. Not having lipstick on my teeth
    17. Coloring inside the lines
    18. Standing upright โ€“ not staggering
    19. Being articulate (never slurring)
    20. Spending time with my favorite pet
    21. BEING A GROWNUP!
