Job Description
Job Summary
The role of the Maintenance Technician position is to ensure that building services meet the needs of staff within a location. This includes repairing, inspecting, and performing comprehensive maintenance of equipment and/or properties, and documenting all procedures within a timely manner.
Role and Responsibilities
- Acts as liaison between supervisor, co-workers, and outside contractors to ensure that any maintenance that needs to be performed is completed timely, is cost effective, and is correctly completed.
- Performs comprehensive maintenance, including but not limited to, the installation and repair of equipment and building renovations and upgrades.
- Measures, cuts, and installs building materials using hand and power tools.
- Assists in maintaining complete lawn care during the growing season.
- Assists with planting of trees, bushes, flowers, etc. and other landscaping needs.
- Completes snow removal tasks such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and doorways as needed during winter months.
- Documents procedures and work completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensures proper care, maintenance and safe use of equipment and supplies.
- Ensures work areas are kept orderly, clean, and safe.
- Ensures that all services are provided in accordance with legal specifications, codes, organizational policy, and compliance requirements.
- Participates in staff development and training, including staff meetings, in-service trainings and annual trainings required by Sanford Behavioral Health on a timely basis.
- Communicates with other departments on facility needs that may arise.
- Adheres to the established Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, Person Centered Philosophy and employee handbook.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- At least two years of related experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to work outside when required.
- Demonstrates respect for client confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to safely operate hand, power, and yard tools.
- Attention to detail, efficient time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software necessary to create and maintain reports and logs.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work within a team setting and create an environment where all are valued and work together cohesively.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking (6+ hours).
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds, with assistance.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks through the use of tools required to complete various maintenance related tasks for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to clearly express and exchange ideas by means of spoken words to impart oral information to employees or others accurately or quickly, engaging in sometimes lengthy conversations or presentations.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs daily.
- Must be able to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with your hand or hands.
- Must be able to perceive sound by ear to interpret oral information from employees or others accurately or quickly.
- Work will be performed in an environment with fluctuating temperatures.
