Alec Green
Executive Vice President & Managing Director
Alec Green has been a transformative leader at Sanford Behavioral Health, developing and working across all divisions of the company. Alec is an acknowledged expert in behavioral healthcare in Michigan, having focused on enhancing resources available to providers and facilities. At Sanford, Alec leads our contracting and credentialing teams and focuses on new programs and initiatives.
Alec began his Sanford career by securing all zoning requirements and then managing and overseeing a 1.2-million-dollar renovation of the historic building that houses the men’s addiction treatment facility. This renovation received the 2018 award for “Outstanding Residential Preservation Project” from the city of Grand Rapids. Alec went on to design the 100,000-square-foot Behavioral Health Campus, including the therapeutic requirements particular to residential eating disorders treatment, the first unit of its kind in the state of Michigan.
Alec’s natural progression “through the ranks” initially took him to direct care and management of the men’s facility. He then assumed operational oversight of all of Sanford’s programs, where he focused on culture and financial efficiencies. However, his time in direct care led him to revenue cycle management, where he remains passionate about parity and advocating for patient benefits. For the past three years, Alec has overseen the revenue cycle and negotiating contracts with over twenty Michigan and national payers.
Alec’s professional experience encompasses every facet of a behavioral health organization. He supports advocacy efforts through public speaking engagements and political advocacy. His mission is to transform the behavioral health landscape in Michigan.
Alec is a proud fan of his hometown, Grand Rapids. He is oftentimes out exploring new features of the city or fulfilling a request to show an out of town guest everything Grand Rapids has to offer. Alec also enjoys everything about the “pure Michigan” outdoors.
Alec says, “I love being a part of Sanford, because it is not just a place to work; we are a family. Everyone is dedicated to creating a warm environment where individuals can come to learn about their new life in recovery.”
