Victoria Zuniga, MSN, PMHNP-BC

 Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Victoria Zuniga has 16 years of experience in the hospital setting, including work in the emergency room. Her primary focus has been inpatient behavioral health. Victoria’s interest in psychiatry began early through personal experiences that gave her a deeper understanding of the impact mental health and substance use disorders can have on individuals and families. She began her career as a mental health assistant and later completed her nursing degree at Lake Michigan College. Following that, Victoria worked as a psychiatric nurse for six years in acute psychiatric settings, most recently at Holland Hospital. She later earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from Chamberlain University.

Victoria’s interests include caring for those in acute crisis and taking a holistic approach to mental health treatment. Her focus is on trauma-informed care, recovery, and substance use treatment. She is especially passionate about supporting Veterans and first responders, as she comes from a family of Veterans. Victoria was drawn to Sanford Behavioral Health because the scope of work allows her to get to know the people she works with beyond their diagnoses or difficult moments in their lives.

Victoria enjoys being part of a setting where trust is built over time and where even small steps forward can make a huge difference. She says, “It’s rewarding to see people grow, regain confidence, and start feeling more like themselves again.” Outside of work, Victoria enjoys spending time with her husband and two children outdoors whenever she can. In her free time, she enjoys being outside planting, reading, or biking – activities that help her relax and recharge.

Victoria Zuniga says, “Healing starts when people feel seen, heard, and supported; it is a privilege to be part of that process.”
