Jacob Passerman

Director of Admissions

Jacob Passerman has a solid foundation in business operations and strategy. He is competent in case management, marketing, project management, procurement, and data analytics. After years of experience in corporate America, he sought a job that had a more direct impact on people’s lives. To this end, Jacob transitioned into the nonprofit sector, spending two years as a life coach. This journey ultimately led him to Sanford Behavioral Health and the role of Director of Admissions. Jacob says, “At Sanford, I found the perfect balance between my passion for helping others and my business expertise. My role at Sanford allows me to leverage my skills to drive positive change and create a lasting impact on people’s lives.”

Jacob’s experience in long-term recovery has given him a deep understanding of the challenges individuals face in finding adequate care in a timely manner. He strives to connect with others on a meaningful level while making them feel supported and heard. (Often, a call to Sanford is the first time someone discloses a mental health concern.) Jacob thinks his personal recovery journey is helpful when working with clients and the admissions team. He says, “We can’t keep what we have without giving it away.”

Every day at Sanford, Jacob says he has “the privilege” of supporting individuals as they rebuild their lives, reconnect with their families, and rediscover their potential. Likewise, he finds fulfillment in helping people live their best lives, including the admissions team he leads. Outside of work, Jacob stays active by participating in a bowling league and playing pickleball, and recently, he started bouldering! Another large part of his life outside of work is his involvement in 12-step meetings, sponsorship, and fellowship. These activities allow him to stay connected, grow, and give back to others in meaningful ways.

Jacob says, “Sanford fosters an environment where learning and development are encouraged, giving me the chance to expand my skills in ways that support my recovery and career goals. I also have the privilege of working alongside a team of subject matter experts in the field, whose knowledge and experience inspire me to improve continuously. Most importantly, I feel like part of a community hereโ€”surrounded by people who support, challenge, and uplift each other to provide the best possible care for people in need.”
