Robin Zody, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Robin Zody has been a psychiatric nurse for five years, working in downtown Philadelphia, Bloomington, Indiana, and most recently at Trinity Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan, before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Robin also worked at the Network 180 Crisis Center in Grand Rapids. She received her nursing degree from Ivy Tech Community College in Terre Haute, IN, and her Master of Science in Nursing-PMHNP from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN.

As a psychiatric nurse practitioner working with individuals experiencing eating disorders and other mental health challenges, Robin finds the work both meaningful and rewarding. She is passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives, especially during some of their most vulnerable moments. Robin is passionate about mental health because she has personally struggled with anxiety and depression, which engendered a deep sense of empathy and understanding for others navigating similar experiences. She finds fulfillment in helping people feel supported, heard, and hopeful throughout their mental health journeys. She says that seeing growth, increased insight, and improved coping skills reinforces the importance of the work we do at Sanford Behavioral Health.ย

One of the aspects Robin values most is building a strong, trusting rapport with her patients. Creating a safe and supportive environment allows Sanford patients to feel comfortable opening up, which is essential for effective treatment. Robin strongly advocates for her patients, making sure the Sanford team hears their needs and concerns.

Outside of work, you can find Robin watching true crime documentaries with her husband or cheering from the sidelines at her three children’s sporting events โ€” from soccer games to figure skating competitions. And if she is not there, she’s probably somewhere drinking coffee and singing Taylor Swift at the top of her lungs.

Robin says, “I strongly believe that patients should be active participants in their care. Including them in the treatment planning process empowers them, promotes autonomy, and leads to more meaningful and sustainable outcomes.”ย
